Fred has been a strength training professional for over 20 years and has worked
in many of NYC's leading health clubs over the years. He observed the need for
safe and serious trainers who produced results, and that is precisely why he
created Serious Strength. After years of seeing the positive results |

that low carb
eating and strength training had on his clients, Fred
became interested in how strength training and low carb eating might help ‘cure’
adolescent obesity and diabetes – a problem that has reached epidemic
proportions. After researching the issue he started a ‘Mighty Tykes and Teens
program’ at his studio, Serious Strength in Manhattan. The results were jaw
dropping. So positive were the outcomes that he wrote a book on the subject,
Strong Kids, Healthy Kids due out December of 2008.
Fred began developing the
Slow Burn system when he worked as a physical therapy aide at the Hospital for
Joint Diseases, Sports Medicine Center. In 1994, along with one of New York’s
leading orthopedic surgeons, Fred co-founded a private physical therapy clinic
located in New York Methodist Hospital. As Director of clinical exercise, he ran
the clinic until 1996.
After nearly 10 years of continuous refinements and
application, in June of 1998 Fred Hahn founded Serious Strength, a personal Slow
Burn training center in NYC. His clients include CEO’s of some of the country’s
largest corporations, famous actors, writers, journalists TV personalities,
moms, dads and children.
In an effort to provide the best nutritional guidance
possible for his clients, Fred initiated a partnership with the authors of
Protein Power, Drs. Michael and Mary Dan Eades. Together they authored The Slow
Burn Fitness Revolution (Jan. 2003, Random House).
Fred has appeared on NBC’s
The Today Show, CNN’s The Biz, WABC Morning Show, NBC Live at Five, Fox Five
News and more. He has been interviewed by the New York Times and the Washington
Post and has spoken on radio shows around the country, including National Public
Radio and WFAN in New York City.
Fred has lectured on exercise at Princeton
University, Chelsea Piers, Hospital for Joint Diseases, Mt. Sinai Hospital as
well as abroad. He is a former senior staff writer for Women’s Basketball
Magazine and has had articles published in numerous fitness publications.
